On November 17, 2014 the Netgear company announced the sales which are coming last decade of November in the territory of Russia to new model of the Nighthawk X4 router. Exclusive rights on distribution of this device were acquired by MICS company.

Nighthawk X4 Wi-Fi-router

The gigabit Nighthawk X4 Wi-Fi-router with support of four-line Wi-Fi-architecture allows to try to obtain maximum speeds of standard 802.11ac during the work in the dual-band mode. Such performance corresponds to requests of high-performance games and a streaming video. Such performance is enough for work with any mobile Wi - Fi - devices.

Nighthawk X4 is capable to reach the general speed of the channel to 2.33 Gbps (up to 1733 Mbps in the range of 5.0 GHz and up to 600 Mbps at a frequency of 2.4 GHz). The device works at a basis of the dual core Internet processor of Qualcomm with clock rate of 1.4 GHz. X4 is equipped with the special Wi-Fi-solution Quantenna 802.11ac of Wave 2, 4x4, MU-MIMO (Multi-User MIMO) allowing to achieve the maximum quality of wireless communication in network on the basis of Nighthawk X4.

The Wi-FI-architecture of "four flows" helps the user to work with a high-quality streaming video, including content of the Full HD format. In the router dynamic prioritizing of traffic on the level of required quality (QoS) is implemented. The service of arrangement of priorities will recognize each "client" separately – whether it be a game, stream video, transfer of the file, web surfing, etc., and exposes it appropriate level of a priority, according to real requirements.

The X4 router is able to identify hardware devices. In particular, it distinguishes the video game console from smart TV, and the personal computer or the notebook from the smartphone. On the basis of this identification the router can use an available Internet channel most correctly.

X4 locates ample opportunities for safe storage of files, file sharing and multimedia content.

To one of two SuperSpeed USB of 3.0 ports or to the eSATA-connector connection of the additional device for data storage is possible.

X4 is provided with the free application which can do automatic backup of data from computers of a home network.

Technical features

• The four-stream architecture of X4 allows to appropriate to the device a tag of AC2350 which indicates the general speed of the device in 2.33 Gbit/sec. (1733 Mbit/sec. * + 600 Mbit/sec. *). It is the fastest indicator of data transmission using dual-band 802.11ac WiFi-connections.

• The dual-core processor with clock rate of 1.4 GHz provides the device for 40% with bigger performance, than earlier. It influences as WiFi speed for end users, and transmission quality of data in a linking of WAN-to-LAN.

• The technology 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-fi improves simultaneous operation with a set of devices.

• Thanks to dynamic QoS-prioritizing, the router monitors the devices and applications working in network. On the basis of the obtained information of X4 optimizes parameters of a home network for each device separately that, in turn, allows to achieve significant decrease in time of delays and the minimum use of buffering.

• The Beamforming technology + improves quality and reliability of a Wi-Fi-covering due to focusing of the directed Wi-Fi-signal on the specific attached device.

• Amplifiers and four external antennas increase a coverage to the sizes of all house.

• Safety features include support of VPN tunnels for secure remote access, the configured free URL addresses (free URL), SPI and the double NAT firewall, a separate guest access to a wireless network and parent control.

• Five gigabit Ethernet-ports (1 WAN and 4 LAN) are responsible for fast hardwired connections.

• One eSATA-port and two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 of port provide high-speed access to file storages many times quicker, than USB 2.0.

• ReadySHARE Vault is the free software application for creation of automatic backup copies of all computers connected to network on the Windows OS platform. Reservation is performed on the hard drive connected to the router by means of USB.

Cost and availability

Nighthawk X4 AC2350 Smart Wi-Fi-router will go on sale in Russia in the third decade of November. The expected price of the device is 13 thousand rubles.

Netgear Nighthawk X6

On January 19, 2015 the Netgear company announced release of routers of the Nighthawk series - X6 AC3200 Tri-Band WiFi Router (R8000) and Nighthawk X4 AC2350 Smart WiFi Router (R7500). The device of the Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Router series (R7000) in 2015 received a service pack.

Now Nighthawk R7000 supports Netgear ReadyCLOUD (remote access to USB disks) and the improved version of software of Netgear genie (remote control by network). The master of installation using whom it is easier to configure the new router for work with the existing equipment of Internet service provider is considerably finished. It is possible to add new features using free updating of a firmware which will come out in January, 2015.
