Stewardesses of Aeroflot will equip with tablet PCs

In November, 2014 Aeroflot announced plans to equip the stewards with the special CrewTablet tablets from SITA company created based on the iPad mini tablet computers. On devices the customized applications of SITA implementing new mobile technology of work with passengers are installed.

Aeroflot calculates that the new technology will allow members of crews to get directly aboard data access about passengers and other service information to simplify work of stewards and to improve service quality of passengers. In particular, the steward in seconds can specify a name of the passenger, his special requests and all necessary information about him.

Besides, use of CrewTablet will allow to pass to digital document flow and to refuse weighty paper reports and instructions and by that will help Aeroflot to cut down operating and management expenses and also to save fuel, calculate in airline.

A number of world airlines already use tablets in work of stewards. In 2013, for example, CrewTablet was implemented by Malaysia Airlines

At the first stage it is going to deliver 500 such devices, further this digit can grow to 1200 units. Implementation of tablets it is going to start at the end of 2014. SITA provides complete support of this project, including delivery of devices, the organization of wireless communication, mobile application development and system integration and also operational support. Aeroflot says that further the functionality of tablets will extend in process of emergence of new applications and change of requirements.

The decision on implementation of new technology was preceded onboard by test operation of CrewTablet. 30 employees of Aeroflot who within five months studied the technological solutions applied in tablets were involved to a research and also analyzed convenience of their use. According to representatives of Aeroflot, more than 90% from them were satisfied with new technology.

In SITA concerning the project noted that Aeroflot became the first carrier in Russia and the CIS which started implementation of CrewTablet for increase in business performance. According to representatives of Aeroflot, the project is a part of the program of the innovative development of airline. In particular, works on equipment of stewards as tablets are carried out within implementation of the concept of e-Aircraft which end result should be an integration of the ground-based and onboard systems of airline.
