State archive of the contemporary history of the Kostroma region (ELAR Planskan)

The state archive of the contemporary history of the Kostroma region is going to provide to users electronic copies of archive documents in high quality. Such perspective appeared thanks to acquisition by organization of a complex of planetary scanning of ELAR Planskan of A2B.

According to the associate director of archive on primary activity Elena Filippova, the new equipment will allow to create copies of documents at essentially other level. In organization work on creation of insurance fund of documents using the microfilming equipment is conducted, and acquisition of ELAR Planskan of A2B will also allow to create fund of use of electronic copies of documents. This activity is directed to providing to archivists a possibility of repeated issue of information and its copying without the addressing originals. In the long term digitization will give the chance to citizens to get access to the most important archive documents which are in State archive of the contemporary history of the Kostroma region including through the Internet.

Employees of archive will independently transfer to an electronic form of the inventory of affairs and especially important documents, – materials of the local party and Komsomol organizations for 1918-1991. On the new scanner the sewed documents will digitize in high quality, without causing damage even to old originals. A broad set of program functions of the scanner will provide professional image processing, such as corrective turn of the warped image, removal of "noise", a scrap on a format, scaling of images, correction of brightness, contrast and color shades.
