Infromsvyaz Holding uses solutions of Avaya for support of an IT environment of the Grand Prix

On October 26, 2014 Avaya company together with Infromsvyaz Holding system integrator executed the project on ensuring high-speed Internet access for the period of holding the first World Cup in a ring auto racing in the class "Formula-1" in Russia.

Project Tasks

The Infromsvyaz Holding company acquired the right to participate in preparation for  "Formula One" and selected Avaya company as the main partner for implementation of a data transmission system and the IP telephony.

Set the important task - to provide the media center, commands, directorate of holding races and a number of commercial customers with service of high-speed access to a global network for Avaya. The modern solution for unified communications, with a possibility  of voice transmission of sportscasters in studio of the broadcasting organizations using a high-quality speech coding was required.

Project Progress

Entered implementation process of the project:

• development of documentation,
• supply of equipment,
• installation (installation of equipment and commissioning)
• technical maintenance during the championship.

In view of complexity and novelty of technical solution, deadlines of its execution, partners selected the monovendor solution - application of products of one producer. It allowed to minimize risks and time regarding integration of systems, it is essential to simplify operation and hardware maintenance.

The equipment Avaya is selected as the most meeting technical requirements, time frames of production, delivery and technical support.

In the project the ERS switches of series 56xx and ERS 4xxx and a complex of wireless solutions 8100, in structure with wireless access points 8120 and controller 8180 are used. The project is executed in the short time which are strictly tied to date of the Grand Prix.

During the Grand Prix the number of wireless subscribers reached 850 units, cable connections  -  600. A considerable part of Internet users was made by journalists and photographers - they actively used the Internet after each arrival on the route, than created a high  and  uneven load  on  a communication channel after the termination of each stage of a competition.

As in the media center worked hard journalists, and, besides, during an action a large number of the access points (more than 1 thousand) belonging to the organizations providing carrying out the Grand Prix and associate events and also considerable number of the mobile devices which are switched on in the mode of access points Wi-Fi worked the high load of the frequency range of 2.4 GHz and spontaneous emergence of zones of high density of clients of Wi-fi was observed.

The problem was resolved carrying out program reconfiguration of radio modules of access points of WLAN for the purpose of optimization of a radio covering. Reduced the sizes of "cells", based on monitoring of load of air of a point transferred to the broadcasting mode in the least loaded channels using alternation of frequencies.

For the days off from network of the general access 2911 GB are loaded, at the same time from network of the media center 735 GB are sent. Peak loading made 300 Mbps - a limit of speed of the channel, provided by provider. After the end of the main arrival unloading speed from the media center of equal 241 Mbps was recorded.

Project Results

Results of participation of Avaya in  a stage of the championship of "Formula One" did not cause complaints.
