Baltika switched to Office 365

At the end of 2013 Microsoft updated the version of a cloud resource in lease and declared support of the scenario multi-forest ("many woods") for customers with holding structure. Convenience of this scenario: in a cloud the uniform address directory works, calendars, presence statuses, groups of mailing, the general portals, general meetings, documents are available to users of the different companies.

The Baltika brewery made the decision to use the scenario multi-forest.

On November 27, 2014 ^[1] knew of transition of the enterprises of Baltika company to the Microsoft Office system of 365 ^[1].

2016: Project Continuation

On February 24, 2016 the Digital Design company announced the project of migration of a local mail system of Carlsberg Group companies and Baltika brewery in a cloud environment. About 6 thousand accounts of users are transferred to Microsoft Office 365.

Transition to Office 365 is caused by need of creation of a common information space for communication in Carlsberg group.

Project Progress

The project was executed in three stages. The first - a preparatory part and pilot migration, is executed by specialists of vendor – Microsoft companies, together with a project team of IT integrator, Digital Design company.

The feature of the project - was for the first time configured hybrid infrastructure for the uniform tenant of Office 365 as a part of whom several separate organizations Exchange. In addition, joint efforts configured the mechanism of transparent authentication of users using AD FS technology.

Accomplishment of process of mass migration required solution development, provided automatic formation of groups of migration of users and data transfer in a cloud service of Office 365 taking into account all rights and dependences configured at users in a local system.

Unfortunately, there are no ready tools for the solution of this task yet. Now at transfer of a mail system in a cloud the existing rights and dependences can be lost at accomplishment of necessary transactions manually. And then them it is necessary to recover, also manually that, of course, can lead to errors. We needed to prepare such solution which would allow to transfer automatically all necessary access rights and dependences to a cloud and to avoid influence of "a human factor". Our experts developed it thanks to what all 6 thousand mailboxes of a local mail system of the region of Carlsberg Group Eastern Europe where Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan enters, were is transparent for end users are transferred to cloud structure Krinitsky Andrey, the manager of projects of department on work with strategic clients of Digital Design

One more feature of the project - the subsequent development of the automated module facilitating process of migration of mailboxes of new users.

The choice of the hybrid circuit of a system of e-mail demanded significant changes in work of administrators. We faced the choice – to give expanded access rights in Office of 365 all administrators that would contradict security policies of the company, or to appoint all responsibility for service of the hybrid circuit to separate group of administrators. But such solution would lead to significant increase in load of them, and as a result – to inevitable errors. The Digital Design company offered alternative option — the automated module of migration of mailboxes between Exchange OnPremises and Exchange Online of own development. This module allows to start in the interface, usual for administrators, clicking of one button process of data transfer in this or that direction and also to receive the report upon termination of process. It considerably facilitates work of administrators, reduces time expenditure and minimizes an error probability. Project Results

For February 24, 2016 6 thousand users of a system of e-mail in Carlsberg Group region Eastern Europe use a cloud solution. Everyone received a mailbox of the unlimited size, file storage OneDrive with functions of the general access, Microsoft Office application of Online, corporate social network and many other things.
