On December 1, 2014 IBM announced that the contract on management of its global IT infrastructure by means of cloud solutions of the American corporation is signed with large Dutch bank ABN Amro. Exact transaction amount is not called, but is announced "several billion dollars".[1]

Within the agreement of IBM within 10 years the full range of services in control of mainframes, servers, disk storages and the user services will provide to ABN Amro. Besides, the staff of the Dutch bank will be able to use technical support services of the American company.

IBM will undertake cloud management of IT infrastructure of ABN Amro

Due to optimization and transformation of cloud infrastructure of ABN Amro is going to increase customer service quality and efficiency of operational work and also to start the innovation products and services. With IBM the Dutch company hopes to receive financial economy from partnership throughout all duration of the contract.

The IT transaction with IBM in ABN Amro is connected with corporate conversions which happen in bank for the purpose of improvement of profitability of business. In November, 2014 ABN Amro announced reduction of jobs in branches and investment into services of Internet banking.

For IBM partnership with the Dutch financial institution marks the remaining emphasis of "the blue giant" on cloud computing and services through which the company intends to stop the falling of revenue proceeding 10 quarters in a row — up to the third quarter of 2014 when sales of vendor fell to $22.4 billion from $23.3 billion the previous year.

Reduction of revenues of IBM is caused by the flat demand on servers and other equipment against the background of popularity of clouds. The corporation already began to react to this trend, having been engaged in creation of separate division which will be responsible for cloud transactions.
