MegaFon ensured functioning of surveillance cameras in Gorelektrorans Municipal Unitary Enterprise

December 11, 2014. The Siberian branch of JSC "MegaFon" ensured functioning of surveillance cameras more in 130 trams of the city of Barnaul.

Project Progress

Video cameras are installed in cars and the driver's cabin. All of them are equipped with the equipment allowing to broadcast through the Internet on a special supervisory console. Thus, all events on a route online are traced by a security service of Gorelektrorans Municipal Unitary Enterprise.

Thanks to operational video surveillance it is possible to find the thing left in salon in trams now, to monitor a road situation, traffic jams at intersections, a status of tram ways. Also cameras will allow to know about the possible conflicts with participation of passengers and timely to prevent them.

Result

Mobile video broadcasting in real time allowed to monitor observance of traffic regulations, to find the left things in salon and to prevent the conflicts between passengers.

Today video cameras are installed in 130 cars, in particular the 7th route, and all is planned to equip with video surveillance systems of 260 structures. In the long term video cameras with mobile data transmission will appear also in trolleybuses.

"For the project we considered all operators of 'the big three', tested SIM cards, measured the speed of mobile data transmission. The steadiest wireless connection was shown by Megafon. We accepted access rate to the Global network and a coverage, and now safety of our passengers will reach qualitatively new level", – Alexander Semykin, the director of Gorelektrotrans Municipal Unitary Enterprise reported.

"Gorelektrotrans mounted the first cameras last year, but they just recorded video on hard drives that was not always convenient. Now using the mobile Internet all situation in inside of the tram and can be watched its limits online that very positively will affect traffic safety and passengers", – the director of the Altai regional department of the Siberian branch of JSC "MegaFon" Valery Kazachenko noted.
