Konstantin Shishkov: Processes in the company formed together and in many respects thanks to SAP implementation
The Magna Cosma enterprise in St. Petersburg (Piterform) manages two production sites. It is only a part of capacities of international concern, producer of automotive components Magna in Russia. As well as the Nizhny Novgorod enterprise Magna, Piterform of the beginning implementation of a corporate information system, SAP ERP, practically since the beginning of the activity that allowed to build business processes of the enterprises optimum. The details about the project of TAdviser were told by the Chief information officer Piterform Konstantin Shishkov.
The directory of ERP solutions, integrators and implementations is available on TAdviser
Konstantin Shishkov: The Magna Cosma enterprise in St. Petersburg is joint with the Korean company Shin Young. In St. Petersburg 2 plants work: one in the industrial zone Shushary in the south of the city, the second in the park of suppliers Hyundai in the industrial zone Kamenka in the north of the city. At our plants press and welding production of body parts for the cars Hyundai, Nissan, GM, etc. is organized.
TAdviser: We will speak about SAP implementation of ERP at the enterprise with respect thereto the first question such: whether correctly we understand that at first Magna automated the reporting based on SAP ERP in the production divisions and only then – at head Russian office. Usually happens on the contrary. Why so?
Konstantin Shishkov: Magna is very decentralized company. Each division of Magna works as independent business division with complete responsibility for profit. In such structure the role of the central office is minimized and carries generally only referral and somewhat the coordinating character. Therefore also any sort of business process automation begin with divisions, and already then the best practices are applied also in the head company. Implementation of ERP in this case not an exception.
TAdviser: SAP ERP – the corporate standard for concern, i.e. your choice was predetermined. It is interesting how the reporting of your enterprise before start of this project was automated? Now key business processes of your enterprise are completely transferred to SAP or some other systems are used?
Konstantin Shishkov: Our division in this sense was lucky as we implemented SAP practically along with production start. With respect thereto that work which we did on transition from 1C to SAP was, of course, not comparable with similar migrations of the working companies for a long time. Now in SAP practically all processes in finance and production are automated. In a 1C system we had only processes in the field of payroll and management of personnel.
TAdviser: In what did function of your partner, Skyrise, consist in this SAP project? Whether they had to perform some works on additional tuning of the solution? Or possibilities of the localized version completely satisfied you?
Konstantin Shishkov: The role of Skyrise was just not so much in a configuration of the localized version how many in completion of functionality under specific the requirement of our company. First of all processes in logistics using mobile terminals and also processes in production were finished.
TAdviser: What changed for end users after automation of financial statements on SAP ERP?
Konstantin Shishkov: It is difficult to select any notable changes in preparation of the reporting. After all, as I already mentioned earlier, SAP implementation of ERP was performed at dostachno early stage of development of the company, and it is possible to tell that processes in the company formed together and in many respects thanks to SAP implementation. Thanks to professionalism of our partner of Skyrise and thanks to rich functionality of a system of SAP, we managed in enough short time not only to configure and implement a system, but also to adjust the main business processes in quickly growing company. From my point of view, it as a result is nearly the most valuable result from SAP implementation.
TAdviser: What projects on SAP can be implemented in the long term at your enterprise?
Konstantin Shishkov: At the moment we think of implementation of the module of quality and a warehouse control system (WMS), however the business case is not worked not up to the end out.
