"Subsidiary" of Gazprom thought of transition from Oracle to PostgreSQL

St. Petersburg gas transmission "subsidiary" "Gazprom", the company "Gazprom transgaz Saint Petersburg", in December, 2014 held the tender testimonial of her desire to migrate with DBMS Oracle on PostgreSQL^[1].

Deniability from Oracle for benefit of PostgreSQL is reflected in the subject of purchase: "Rendering consulting services in the analysis of a possibility of data transfer from Oracle DBMS in PostgreSQL DBMS and preparation of the technical specification on the performed works at data transfer from Oracle DBMS in PostgreSQL DBMS".

Under the terms of the tender which passed in a form of open request for proposals, the winner should carry out for the benefit of gas workers pilot transfer of databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL and transfer them the report on the performed work, the technical specification on works, technical documentation on them and also "scripts on accomplishment of technical transactions".

The technical specifications are described in the appendix to the tender step by step. It includes receiving at gas workers of the copy of the Oracle database "in the volume sufficient for rendering services"; its deployment at own capacities of the contractor; creation of a mirror database structure of Oracle in PostgreSQL which is already unrolled at itself; data transfer from the Oracle database in PostgreSQL and, at last, preparation and transfer to the customer of the report on the performed works and other documentation.

For all works on pilot migration, including preparation of documentation, 20 days are allotted to the contractor under the agreement.

The winner of the tender Gazprom transgaz Saint Petersburg became its only participant - LANIT Northwest, during trading beaten down the price from 496 thousand to 494.8 thousand ruby.

Gazprom transgaz Saint Petersburg is under authority more than 10 thousand km of gas trunks, in the company about 7 thousand employees work.
