2015: Zamar AG is ready to replace Windows with Linux

On September 2, 2015 the Zamar AG company announced readiness of the software of independent operation of the airports for possible transition to Linux OS. The innovation is connected with possible prohibition on use of the software of Windows 10 in public authorities and on objects of a strategic importance.

According to the statement of the company, development of a full-function alternative of Windows version took a little more than two weeks.

"Now the system of autonomous registration of passengers of DCS developed by Zamar AG is optimized for work in Windows OS. The majority of airport "software" in all air harbors of the world also works at Windows. However in connection with the last initiatives of public authorities of the Russian Federation suggesting to limit significantly use of Windows 10 in daily work of strategic objects, our specialists quickly prepared Linux version of all software products of the company. So now we are ready to succession of events according to any scenario", - Zafar Kabilov, the area director of Zamar AG told.

"Discussion" around use of Windows 10 is caused by statements of Vadim Solovyov, the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from CPRF faction - he sent to the Attorney-General Yury Chaika an inquiry with the requirement to make investigation concerning Microsoft company and its new operating system. According to the deputy, in the license agreement of the American corporation there is a number of the points defining illegality of distribution of Windows 10 in Russia. In the request the people's deputy suggests to carry out an inspection of activity of the American software giant, "take measures for blocking of the corresponding Internet resource from which it is possible to download this software product, before acceptance of the final decision on its admission on the Russian market and also to publish caution to bodies of the executive and legislative authorities of the Russian Federation for use of this software product on the devices". The special concern of the deputy was caused by a hypothetical possibility of Windows 10 to collect information on a computer system of the user without his permission.

The official position of Microsoft company concerning statements of similar character is under construction a statement: unauthorized collection of information without the knowledge of the user is not provided by a system.
