"The center of a trenazherostroyeniye and training of personnel" switched to use of VDI

On February 24, 2015 it became known of use by "The center of a trenazherostroyeniye and training of personnel" of means of virtualization of desktops in IT infrastructure of the enterprise on the Citrix XenServer platform.

Project Tasks

As a part of the complex operating based on Center of a Trenazherostroyeniye and Training of Personnel LLC more than 30 specialized and complex exercise machines, the functional modeling stands, educational and training models and the training systems that helps with the organization of necessary conditions for education and training of qualified personnel.

Prior to the beginning of the project of upgrade the educational complex was characterized as the division requiring pstoyanny investments in service of jobs.

The IT department analyzed a situation and made the decision on system implementation of virtualization of desktops (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) for cost reduction on support of IT infrastructure to give to users an opportunity to work with all necessary resources from any device.

The main feature of the project - the requirement of the customer to provide virtual work places with support full 3D - diagrams that users worked with graphically saturated applications in full.

Project Progress

For carrying out a pilot project of system implementation of virtualization of desktops in the Center a number of experimental stands within which testing of opportunities of the technological solution is held is created. As the environment of virtualization of workstations selected the platform on the basis of a hypervisor of Citrix XenServer and the Citrix XenDesktop server in combination with the Nvidia Grid K2 card.

Project Results

As a result of successful implementation the problem of virtualization and remote access to desktops is completely solved – now users can obtain all necessary information from any place in the world and from any device. Besides, the technology linking of Citrix XenServer and NVIDIA GRID vGPU allows to distribute effectively graphic processors between virtual machines. Several users can work at the same time with "heavy" applications, using shares of remote GPU.

The proposed solution allows to make it more flexible, safe and capable to solve any assigned tasks in the field of IT, - Sergey Halyapin, the head of the Citrix system engineers noted. - Besides, in this complex the possibility of its development without change of basic bases at introduction to its structure of new exercise machines with the minimum costs of resources is put. Thus, the Center can scale the implemented system taking into account own growth and the arising requirements".

Now it is possible to work with 3D - graphics in any place and at any time".
