DTN-X is the multiterabit platform of a packet optical transport network (P-OTN) based on photon integrated circuits with capacity of 500 Gbps.
The solution is focused on suppliers of network services with the growing requirements to increase in network transmission capacity of data transmission.
Components of the Infinera DTN-X system, 2012
At design of DTN-X the purpose - to integrate switching and dense wavelength division multiplexing of channels (DWDM) without prejudice to capacity was set. The architecture of DTN-X inherits usability and reliability of successful architecture of Infinera DTN, helping to reduce quantity of elements as a part of network.
The above-mentioned photon integrated circuits which became DTN-X basis belong to third generation of such products. For the first time in the world they reached a point of the transmission rate of 500 Gbps.
DTN-X provides non-blocking switching 5 Tbit / c on one rack scaled up to 100 Tbit / with in a cluster configuration and the capacity of WDM at the level of 8 Tbit / with, scaled up to 24 Tbit / page of DTN-X combines advantages of PIC technology with the integrated means of switching and flexibility in OTN-and packet networks.
The technology is capable to provide scaling to 1 Tbit / c on the slot, when scaling switching of P-OTN to 5 Tbit / with on a rack (in the future — to 10 Tbit / with on a rack and to 100 Tbit / c of non-blocking switching in a cluster configuration). Unlike traditional network equipment, integration of a transport network and switching happens without compromises.
