Citrix EdgeSight

Citrix EdgeSight is the monitor of performance and availability to the products XenApp, Citrix XenDesktop|XenDesktop]]^[1].

EdgeSight is capable to make monitoring of the user sessions, devices, use of licenses, network condition in real time.

A system helps to conduct condition monitoring of a server farm, to receive notifications about applications failures and to reveal problems with network still before users begin to show concern.

EdgeSight generates reports on the most used applications, the number of licenses, time of activity of the user sessions. Helps to reveal the applications using bigger quantity of resources and the reason of a progressive tense of installation of the user session. Under control of a system there are all aspects of work of a farm.

Citrix EdgeSight consists of components:

• EdgeSight agents
• EdgeSight servers
• EdgeSight console
• Citrix License Server

For creation of reports of Citrix EdgeSight requires Microsoft SQL Server Reporting. The complex can submit the following scheme:

The Citrix EdgeSight console is the web application working only in Internet Explorer.

The console is separated into several sections.

• Monitor – helps to reveal problems with availability and performance in real time.

• Troubleshoot is a research of performance and stability of the device/application/user in real time.

• Plan and Manage is diagrams of performance and stability in historical perspective. The tool for identification of servers and applications with a poor performance.

• Track Usage – shows the most used applications, the number of free licenses.

• Browse is viewing reports.

Configure is setup of a system.

As a part of means for monitoring:

• Farm Monitor – helps to control the triggers involved for one reason or another on a farm. When the event caused by the trigger in the console is registered there is the corresponding notification.

• Alerts – EdgeSight provides uncountable number of triggers which can be used for observation of a system environment. In addition to display can go to the consoles, EdgeSight-events generated by triggers by email or generate snmp-traps (snmp traps).

Examples of triggers:

• Failures in operation of applications.
• Unavailability of servers in farms.
• Problems with performance in sessions.
• Problems with performance of systems.
• The events appearing in Windows Event Log.
• Slow network functioning.

• Dashboard – helps to watch with real time information collected from specific devices.
