On March 10, 2015 it became known of implementation by software Pacnet company Infinera Open Transport Switch (OTS) from Infinera company for network virtualization at the level of optics.
Project Results
The Pacnet company implemented OTS on own platform for programmatically the defined networks (SDN), Pacnet Enabled Network (PEN), within large underwater network in the Pacific Rim. The network works for the countries of the Pacific basin, in the Asian region and supports services of 100 Gbps. The operating transport network of Pacnet uses the platform of a packet optical transport network Infinera DTN-X.

Using DevOps software development model, the Pacnet company managed to integrate Infinera OTS with the PEN platform and to implement new service. Besides, Pacnet implemented OTS in the "live" network on the DTN-X platform, having connected in the Hybrid Control mode within which new services use a capacity resource by means of SDN technology, and the existing services continue to work under control of a management system of Infinera DNA network.
