On March 11, 2015 the IBM corporation announced an output to the IaaS-offers market of SoftLayer company - not virtualized servers on the OpenPOWER platform.
Servers are developed on the basis of the architectural concept of OpenPOWER Foundation for the help to customers in management of capacious information loadings in public and private cloud environments.
Servers on the basis of architecture of OpenPOWER use the licensed technology of the IBM POWER processor.
In the course of creation of not virtualized servers of IBM and SoftLayer worked in cooperation with two other founders of consortium OpenPOWER: TYAN and Mellanox Technologies.
The hardware SoftLayer servers support applications of Linux, are based on architecture of IBM POWER8 – the processor technology which is the center of the IBM Power Systems family.
The SoftLayer servers give opportunities for the developing community of the developers supporting an ecosystem of POWER, the independent program vendors developing applications of Linux on Power and perform migration of software from x86 servers on architecture of POWER.
The offer will become available in the cloud center SoftLayer in Dallas with perspective of global distribution.
