For many years the company developed own data processing center. In 2013 in the companies started an investment program, several new laboratories opened, and, load of DPC as a result increased. The volume of the stored data exceeded terabyte, there was a need for making decision on space for storage and processing.
The KDL laboratory ordered audit, for data acquisition and decision-making – to build data center in KDL or to find the partner who will provide similar service. The company stopped the choice on the private virtual cloud offered by provider which will allow to optimize expenses and will give to the company additional flexibility in the field of scaling of resources.
KDL imposed special requirements to the solution: flexible scalability, high fault tolerance with admissible idle time no more than two hours a year, availability of servers of 99.95%, full redundancy of client data.
Project Progress
By April 7, 2015 the first stage of placement of the KDL resources in the private cloud provided to Orange in the territory of Russia is completed: KDL moved about 30-40% of information systems. It is going to transfer to a cloud 80% of systems.
Orange acted and as the supplier of cloud services, and as the telecommunication provider having the developed MPLS network in Russia and abroad.
Orange deployed by specialists for the KDL solution completely met requirements of the customer to fault tolerance and scalability: threefold reservation of communication hubs and a possibility of building up to 32 nodes is provided.
Project Results
The solution saved KDL from need to develop own DPC and to invest in infrastructure and its updating.
"Thanks to this project with Orange we got rid of need to solve problems which would rise before us at construction of new data center. We received the "turnkey" ready-made solution capable to support our infrastructure that at the same time we were engaged in the main work, ─ Andrey Mishakin, the CEO of KDL laboratory noted. ─ our relations with provider allow IT service to control cost value of the received services. It means that the cost of the received KDL services as much as possible falls that is very important in the current situation as influences the cost of services for our clients".
