2015: Conclusion of an agreement

At the beginning of April, 2015 it became known of the bargain which IBM concluded with producer of soft drinks Coca-Cola. Cooperation of the companies concerns cloud computing.[1]

Within the signed agreement the Coca-Cola Amatil company (the Australian "subsidiary" of Coca-Cola working in the Pacific Rim) will transfer the customer relationship management systems to IBM Cloud cloud. Workloads of IT systems of Coca-Cola Amatil will process two data centers of IBM SoftLayer located in Australia. The exact price of the transaction is not set, however it is known that it is about several million dollars.

Having used the reliable and safe cloud systems of IBM, the company will be able to cut down expenses and to react more quickly to customer needs. Besides, the producer of soft drinks will receive new conditions for fast and cost-efficient product development and services for the clients.

"Our products should be present at shelves of shops at any time that our buyers could always purchase them. We have large volumes of transactions which strongly differ on such factors as location, date, a season, etc." — the Chief information officer of Coca-Cola Amatil Barry Simpson noted, having added that thanks to transition to the SoftLayer servers the company will be able to bring to qualitatively new level flexibility, fault tolerance and reliability of the information systems.

According to Simpson, cooperation with IBM will allow Coca-Cola to avoid heavy expenses on IT infrastructure. The company intends to transfer workloads to IBM Cloud by the fall of 2015.

Cooperation of Coca-Cola Amatil and IBM began 2014 more. Then the companies signed the 5-year contract within which IBM undertook management of the IT infrastructure of the partner unrolled by SAP company.
