In March, 2015 observers of the TAdviser portal tested the uninterruptible power supply unit (UPSU) of APC by Schneider Electric Smart UPS SMX2200HV , one of the main advantages of which was an increased battery life.

It is remarkable that a system considers performances of external power sources, and not just one UPS.

APC SMX2200HV supports installation of the mezzanine net board by means of which control of operation of the UPS in the local area network is provided. In the senior models of the Smart UPS X series the payment of network management is already built-in.

The uninterruptible power supply unit tested by TAdviser is capable to manage groups of devices, switching-off them or restarting without contact of other equipment. This function is implemented by means of the managed groups of sockets in number of three pieces.

It is worth referring the increased energy efficiency which the producer achieved due to AVR Bypass technology to one of the main advantages of APC SMX2200HV. During failures in energy supply the automatic stabilizer of tension (AVR) is activated, it is not involved in the normal mode.

In this UPS there is a system of abnormal switching off of EPO which if necessary will quickly deenergize the devices connected to the UPS. Such function will protect power supply of servers and also routers, routers, office automatic telephone exchanges and other telecommunication equipment.

The UPS is equipped with nine output connectors of a power supply, RS-232 and USB ports and also the slot for additional interfaces. The producer says time of charging of removable accumulators at the level of 3 hours, this result was confirmed also by tests of TAdviser.

In the mode of half loading  APC by Schneider Electric Smart UPS SMX2200HV could provide with uninterrupted power the computer equipment within 25 minutes. At an overall load operating time was slightly less than nine minutes that quite was enough for preserving of documents and the correct completion of operation of the equipment.

This UPS does not take a lot of place (dimensions of a product make 432 x 85 x 667 mm weighing 37.32 kg), it works rather quietly (noise selection level, according to passport data, is equal 55 dB) and is convenient that replacement of accumulators can be made without disconnection from the power supply network.

The model is supplied with the LCD display for operational management of work

After power outage on the UPS screen time measured to independent operation of the computer is displaid. In a case with SMX2200HV measuring accuracy is very high – up to several seconds.

To convenience in work with the UPS adds the software of APC PowerChute which can be downloaded free of charge from the official site of the producer. This software serves for monitoring of performances of a source and its setup and also allows to start automatically process of preserving of data at long blackout.

Sound indication notifies on all procedures performed by the UPS. She notifies on the forthcoming failure of batteries (the device contains the built-in mechanism of testing) that she will help to perform operational service of a source. The SMX2200HV model uses automatic safety locks instead of fusible.
