The university of Potsdam implemented a communication framework of CommuniGate Pro

April 16, 2015. The university of Potsdam (Germany) announced^[1] about implementation of a communication framework of CommuniGate Pro. The project allowed the organization to integrate the mail interface into the university portal. Little interesting technical information: all system is installed on a cluster from four servers in the CommuniGate Pro Dynamic Cluster configuration for ensuring fault tolerance and multilevel load distribution. For authorization of users the external LDAP directory is used. Total number of users of a system is about 30 thousand human. The CommuniGate Pro platform allows to use all types of communications: the Internet mail, calendars, IP-telephony, fast messages, deleted storages and file sharing. Now communications of the university are based on a corporate cloud.

"Earlier the trend of the appeal to public services was observed. But private companies already "burned" on cloud services of large foreign providers, the example of that is scandal with Google. It seems that the European state institutions and the universities thought of transition to solutions under own management", – Oleg Nikitin, the commercial director of CommuniGate Systems Russia considers.

In Russia the similar trend is traced. According to Oleg Nikitin, to a complication of an economic and political situation some domestic universities managed to transfer the mail services, and these are tens of thousands of accounts, in foreign clouds as large corporations like Microsoft offer tempting terms.

There are bases to believe that in the Russian educational institutions process - "moving" on own infrastructure started. "This year the university of Bauman at which 15 thousand students study passed to the CommuniGate Pro platform, – Oleg Nikitin says. – The Russian management and CommuniGate Systems developers consider it necessary to support domestic higher education institutions, offering special price terms on delivery and training for all educational institutions of Russia".
