On May 14, 2015 the PSS engineering and consulting company announced start in work of methodology for creation of functional units of the space chart for VERFAU Medikal Engineering company as means of software of Autodesk Revit.

The partner in the project selects the PSS St. Petersburg engineering and consulting company. A choice for benefit of PSS is made according to the results of tender in which experts of PSS showed the high speed of task performance, thoroughness of approach and experience with BIM.

Project Progress

During the project the methodology of creation of functional units of the space chart in software of Autodesk Revit and Solibri Model Checker and the training videocourse in which the sequence of actions during the work on new blocks is described is developed. The methodology underwent approbation and is used during the work on new objects.

Project Results

Blocks will be used by technologists during creation of projects of medical institutions. Work of technologists in a unified environment with other participants of design process should reduce significantly project development terms and also minimize errors and simplify interaction with specialists of adjacent sections and contractors.

"Our main objective – to create a comfortable environment for personnel and patients by the effective and rational organization of processes and premises. Health care facilities are very difficult for design as it is necessary to consider not only architectural features of the building, but also specifics of premises: placement in them the medical equipment, arrangement from each other and many other things, – Pyotr Manin, the BIM leading, the leading BIM manager of VERFAU Medikal Engineering told. – At the same time designers and architects should interact with the technologists having medical knowledge closely. To facilitate this interaction, to accelerate design process and to reduce quantity of errors, we started the project on implementation of methodology of creation by technologists of functional units of the space chart means of Autodesk Revit as initially there was an understanding that typification of premises very well approaches under the principles of BIM technology".

In the block the premises connected on functional purpose integrate. The technology project representing the space chart is filled already from single functional units. Depending on appointment of medical institution is defined what of blocks will participate in the project: for example, the block Boarding house is not used in the project of clinic, and the Surgical Hospital block will not be used in the project of boarding house. Each premises of the block contain the equipment with property set for automatic formation of a task for a supply of networks of engineering facilities, but also – a binding of connection points of the equipment to borders of premises which in need of display joins on types. Each premises have the list of the properties necessary for unloading in the set RDS form. The form is configured so that all unloading in it was automatic on data retrieveds from the Revit model.

After technologists created model, they report it to the architect who carries premises on floors according to architectural intention, i.e. makes an architectural model of "naked" premises and "dresses" them in construction. At the same time premises should not lose the functional touch designated by technologists in the project.

According to methodology VERFAU Medikal Engineering generates library of blocks. The library includes such blocks as reception, administration, a therapeutic hospital, a surgical hospital, rehabilitation, endoscopy, functional diagnostics and so on. About 80 such units are at the moment already created.
