May 14, 2015. The Carlsberg company announced implementation in branched corporate IT infrastructure a number of modern business applications: desktop applications of Office 365, service of e-mail Exchange Online, Lync Online instant messenger, SharePoint Online corporate portal and social network Yammer.

Choosing a Solution

Earlier the IT department of Carlsberg tested a cloud solution of Google. However numerous users were not ready to transition to the new interface that also meant difficulties in integration of new software into the IT system, problems with synchronization of already installed applications and decrease in level of data protection. Therefore, having listened to opinion of employees and IT specialists, the management stopped the choice on cloud solutions of Microsoft.

Project Progress

With assistance of customer service of Microsoft Services Consulting the complete solution was deployed in all branches and business divisions of brewery, including recently created for expense optimization of logistic network Carlsberg Supply Company (CSC).

Result

The personnel of Carlsberg got access to all necessary information at any time, in any place and from any device. Resource-intensive meetings on places were succeeded by the planned and improvised Lync-video conferences which significantly increased productivity of work of all production and logistic network of the company. The corporate social network Yammer allowed employees to exchange easily the ideas, to discuss joint projects and to fill up knowledge of each other of features of national tastes and the local markets of intoxicated drinks. Thus, thanks to cloud computing of Microsoft, the management of Carlsberg can easily keep track of quality of work of all divisions, optimize their activity and at the same time always be aware of global and regional trends of the brewing industry.

Cloud computing of Microsoft provided to the staff of brewing giant effective tools for joint office and remote work, provided the high level of storage and information transfer about a status and specifics of the regional markets and helped to optimize a complex system of production and logistics. Carrying out video conferences with participation of colleagues, partners and suppliers from 140 countries became possible that allowed to reduce time of acceptance of management decisions since several weeks to a couple of hours, representatives of the company integrator reported TAdviser.

Development Plans

The company management is enough results of implementation, continues cooperation with Microsoft and is going to pass to data storage on a cloud platform of OneDrive in the near future.

"Using Office 365 for global joint work, we can interact fully with the regional markets worldwide and quickly obtain data which are necessary for maintenance of thin balance between cost reduction and business development in general. If earlier we had to spend weeks for collection of information and discussion of strategy, then now it takes no more than two hours – enough call or video conferences", – Etienne Doc, the vice president for IT and supply, Carlsberg Group noted.
