2015: Announcement of Samsung Galaxy S6 Active

On June 8, 2015 Samsung Electronics provided upgraded version of the flagman Galaxy S6 smartphone. The model with the Active prefix received high degree of protection against damages.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is certified according to IP68 standard that allows to submerge phone on depth to one and a half meter within 30 minutes.  The device conforms to standards of protection of Mil-STD-810G which assume capability to maintain falling from height to 1.2 meters. Thus, this device can be considered the most protected in a line of smartphones of the flagman Galaxy S Active level.

In addition to an opportunity to resist to influence of dust, moisture, extreme temperatures and blows, innovation differs from normal Samsung Galaxy S6 with an increased accumulator capacity at 40% — up to 3500 mAh. The battery can be charged in the wireless way and also in the special accelerated mode (half in 30 minutes). Also the producer provided the Ultra Power Saving Mode function thanks to which the smartphone will be able to fulfill far from the power supply network even day when the level of a charge of a battery falls up to 10%.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is supplied with the side Activity Zone button for start of a compass, a small lamp and other applications which can be useful outside the house or office. Besides, in the provided gadget there is no slot for the memory cards microSD and the fingerprint scanner. For the rest specifications of the smartphone and Samsung Galaxy S6 are similar.

Both products are equipped with 5.1-inch Super AMOLED displays with  the resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels, eight-nuclear processors with a frequency of 2.1 GHz, 3 Gbytes of RAM and two cameras — the main with a 16-megapixel array and optical stabilization and also 5-megapixel frontal. As a program basis the Android 5.0.2 operating system performs with the corporate user interface TouchWiz.

Sales of Samsung Galaxy S6 Active in the USA start on June 12, 2015. Terms of emergence of a leader in Russia are unknown.^[1]
