June 29, 2015. The company announced Open Technologies implementation of a high-performance computing cluster for processing and interpretation of seismic data at research and design institute of Rosneft Company to Krasnoyarsk.

Project Progress

Implementation of a high-performance system in Krasnoyarsknipineft LLC became necessary in connection with the growing volumes of seismoprospecting works on license areas of the company in Eastern Siberia. The majority of sections has tectonic and lithologic screened deposits there that significantly increases the areas of seismic shootings. Besides, difficult seismogeological conditions require application of high density and widely azimuthal observation systems that also leads to growth of volumes of initial data which need to be processed.

The computing system implemented by the company Open Technologies consists of several subsystems of processing, storage and data transmission which allows to involve necessary computing resources and also to provide parallel access to data.

As computing nodes of the delivered system the solution of IBM - NeXtScale, a storage system - the equipment speaks on behalf of Panasas company, and as switching - the equipment from Cisco systems company - Nexus. The RedHat Entreprise Linux 5.11 operating system is used on managing nodes, and on calculating nodes - CentOS 5.11.

When commissioning a cluster by specialists of the company Open Technologies performance review of systems by comparison of a vremyaemkost of the procedure of calculation of migration of Kirchhoff before summing on test data volume was carried out. As the test equipment a set of real data of MOGT 3D before summing with a total amount about 200 GB was used, at the same time length of the route of test set was 6 pages, nominal multiplicity of OGT – 220, land area – 220 sq.km. For a test miscalculation of migration on a cluster with involvement of 896 cores on processors Intel Xeon E5 – 2667 (3.3GHz) less than 3 days were spent.
