Content

On July 6, 2015 the press service of Oracle announced project completion of upgrade of business processes of PJSC VimpelCom on the basis of Oracle E-Business Suite R12. As the contractor in the project the AT Consulting company acted.

Project Tasks

Due to the changed requirements of business, in April, 2014 in VimpelCom made the decision on transition to the new version of the ERP system. During the project with the help of new functionality of Oracle E-Business Suite more than 70 large business processes of the company are automated:

  • purchase management,
  • inventory management,
  • asset management,
  • management of financial information and payments,
  • accounting and reporting under standards of accounting, tax accounting,
  • formation of the tax and management reporting,
  • personnel (accounting, payroll calculation, maintaining sheet),
  • loading of credentials from external systems of subsidiary companies of the CIS countries and foreign countries.

In the course of migration data in 11 years of a company performance - more than 200 million records are transferred. An ERP system is integrated into the general IT architecture of the operator, interacts with external resources. The number of users is more than 30 thousand. The staff of the company got access to upgraded version in January, 2015. At the moment of peak load more than 100 specialists of VimpelCom and AT Consulting participated in the project.

Project Progress

The version of Oracle E-Business Suite R12 is distinguished by considerable improvements in support of centralization of functions of the enterprise. The uniform mechanism of setup of rules of formation of credentials provides reflection of business transactions at the same time in all types of accounting with preserving of an auditor trace. Centralization of payments, the simplified processes of closing of financial periods, flexible opportunities of setup of access rights to several operational units, the uniform data warehouse about bank accounts of all partners, user-friendly interfaces of setup, the specialized systems of self-service on personnel management, the preconfigured workplace of the purchaser and more than 500 other new opportunities simplify work of users, give a comprehensive idea of activity of the company in real time. With Oracle E-Business Suite R12 the company had an opportunity to use the preconfigured mobile applications, including applications for the statement of requests, for input of purchasing requests, for viewing inventory data, for receiving project information, a mobile product catalog and others.

From the moment of initial implementation of ERP in 2004 the VimpelCom company passed a big way from mobile operator to the universal telecom operator entering into transnational telecommunication group. For alignment of business processes and reduction of number of completions we practically rebuilt system architecture under new requirements taking into account advanced functionality of the advanced version of Oracle E-Business Suite. Terms of the project were extremely compressed: from the moment of its start and before full-scale start we had 9 months. I want to note especially that we managed to perform one-time migration of historical data and start of all functional areas without any breakdown on stages. Project Results

A system works in all branches of operator in the territory of Russia, in it more than 30 thousand users are registered and more than 70 large business processes are automated. The project - one of the most large-scale implementations of Oracle E-Business Suite R12 in Russia and the CIS.
