IBM developerWorks Open

developerWorks Open is the platform for developers where advanced technologies open source are provided.

On July 29, 2015 IBM announced start of the platform for developerWorks Open developers.

developerWorks Open is a cloud site with access, open for developers, to solutions of IBM, to technical knowledge and experience of the company. The platform helps to interact with a global network of programmers for acceleration of creation and project implementation. Developers can load the code, visit blogs, watch video records, get access to the tools and techniques helping them with work. By means of use of the platform programmers have an opportunity of operational creation and implementation of the open source applications answering to different business requirements of clients.

Among the technologies provided on the developerworks Open portal, IBM opened access to a number of projects and developers can use the most advanced solutions. IBM will start these services on the cloud platform of Bluemix intended for software development.

IBM is going to open source codes of many applications of a portfolio of mobile solutions of MobileFirst. They are focused on assistance of the services to developers aiming to enter the market of health care, retail insurance and mobile banking.

• IBM Ready App for Healthcare is the application which using the mobile device helps to trace the course of treatment of the patient during passing of a course of physical therapy in house conditions.

• IBM Ready App for Retail will help to improve customer service quality, to provide individual approach and to change idea of the consumer of purchases in shops due to use of forward channels of communication.

• IBM Ready App for Insurance allows to improve the relations between homeowners and insurers and also uses different services of Internet of Things for synchronization of the house with utility counters.

• IBM Ready App for Banking will help financial institutions to satisfy needs of owners of business for mobile solutions and also will allow to attract new clients.

IBM declared determination to open source codes of several technologies from the field of analytics:

• Activity Streams will provide to developers standard model and the encoding format for the description of how users interact with the application and with each other.

• Agentless System Crawler will provide a uniform cloud monitoring system and analysts with a possibility of observation of all types of cloud platforms and runtime environments.

• IBM Analytics for Apache Spark is the solution using which analytical opportunities of the Spark platform will become available to everyone. The beta is available on Bluemix.

IBM announced continuation of disclosure of source codes of cloud services of data:

• IBM Object Storage on Bluemix Service Broker - can be used for integration of OpenStack Swift and Cloud Foundry that will provide quick access to data in a cloud regardless of their placement.
