"Argon" implemented the automation equipment of management of trade inventories

2018: Transition to ABM Retail

In September, 2018 the ABM Cloud company completed the project on implementation of a cloud solution of ABM Retail in retail chain stores Argon. Implementation is carried out from January to September, 2018.

Prerequisites of the Project

To the project outlets and the central office worked in a system with an outdated configuration, the big extent of bases, with the distributed structure of bases. It led to multiple exchanges and continued support of completeness and correctness of these exchanges. Because of a large number of failures at data exchange permanent condition monitoring of exchange and restart of exchange manually was necessary. Monitoring occupied up to 35% of operating time of the supporting personnel. The big extent of bases led to the fact that the server hardware did not cope with loading and required replacement, work of users in the accounting system was uncomfortable in connection with regular hangups of the accounting system and blocking of data.

Project Objectives

Replacement of the existing software Astor on a modern cloud platform of ABM Retail which will easily support and modify under the growing business needs was a main objective of the project. Use the single database which will allow to exclude multiple exchanges between databases for accounting and also lower housekeeping overheads of own server hardware.

Project Progress

For detection of needs of the customer, preproject examination within which all required functionality of the ABM Retail system is described was conducted. Personnel training of outlets and heads of departments of the central office, both on work with a system, and on methodology of management was provided. For September, 2018 maintenance is performed by technical support service of ABM Retail which provides technical and methodological advices. All network, 25 shops and 3 distribution warehouses, is transferred to the accounting system in 4 months. ABM Retail is set in a back office, is used at the central office and outlets in the "thin client" mode.

At ABM Retail implementation preserving of the centralized reporting for transfer of network for work in ABM Retail was a main objective. The technology of double-sided data exchange with the old accounting system was for this purpose selected. For all transient period the old accounting system remained base of master data. At consecutive translation of outlets on accounting in ABM Retail, unloading of all economic transactions in the old accounting system was organized.

Project Results

The cloud solution of ABM Retail allowed to get rid completely of exchanges between bases of outlets and the center and also allowed to exclude responsibility of internal IT service for the server hardware and accomplishment of completions.

Project objectives are achieved - the single system of business management based on a cloud management system for ABM Retail shops is implemented. System implementation promoted increase in efficiency of business processes, improvement of speed of preparation and transparency of analytical information, optimization of labor productivity of personnel. Implementation of a cloud solution allowed to eliminate exchanges between bases and to release resources of the specialists supporting exchanges and also to cut down expenses on the server hardware. The company uses the analytical module which allows to build reports in different cuts and analysts.

Implementation of ABM Retail allowed:

  1. to Optimize and automate processes of management of orders and stocks.
  2. to Optimize processes of self-produced accounting.
  3. to Optimize commodity and accounting processes, analytics and control of the movement of goods, raw materials and materials.
  4. to obtain relevant credentials At any moment.
  5. Thanks to the universal mechanism "Report generator" there was an opportunity to quickly change a form of old reports and to configure new reports, including with visualization of results.
  6. the Flexible system of setup of functional duties for roles of users allows to limit availability of objects of a system and also to exclude a possibility of frauds and to monitor incorrect actions of users.
  7. Logging of actions of users.

2015: Control automation by trade inventories

On June 16, 2015 the ABM Cloud company announced control automation project completion by trade inventories in the Argon Successfully company[1].

Project Tasks

The company was faced by tasks:

  • provide existence of trade inventories on shelves of shops for optimum level of sales;
  • reduce the level of excesses of trade inventories;
  • increase turnover of trade inventories;
  • optimize the range, proceeding from demand.

For control automation by trade inventories management of the company made the decision on implementation of ABM Stock-M technology for decrease in level of the missed sales, acceleration of a goods turnover, optimization of the range and the delivery schedule on many suppliers, system improvement of financial performance of network.

Project Progress

In the course of implementation of ABM Stock-M works are performed:

  • it is connected to the system of 90 thousand [2];
  • initial buffers are calculated (the maximum consumption for the average time of replenishment for each SKU). Through one cycle of replenishment a system itself adapted to the current level of demand;
  • user training to methodological bases of inventory management according to the Theory of Restriction and work in the ABM Stock-M system is provided.

Project Results

Managers of the company had a demand analysis opportunity, both on outlets, and on separate positions of goods. Order processing due to automation accelerated.

Main results

  • the company reduced the level of the missed sales by 4 times;
  • 3 persons manage 90 thousand SKU;
  • in work about 40 specialized reports;
  • the goods turnover is accelerated;
  • assortment matrixes are optimized;
  • delivery schedules are reviewed.
