TERA is completely screened solution of Siemon company.
2016:
TERA outstripped requirements of the ISO/IEC 11801-1 standard
On September 9, 2016 the Siemon company announced upgrade of its full-function TERA cable system with individual shielding of pairs and advancing of project requirements of the ISO/IEC 11801-1 standard to channels of class II (document N2483 of committee on development).
Canals and permanent lines of class II are expected frequency range up to 2 GHz and created on a switching equipment, cables and cords of category 8.2. A problem of such systems – to provide support of future applications of 25 Gbps (25GBASE-T) and 40 Gbps (40GBASE-T).
The independent laboratory Intertek ETL held testing of electric parameters of TERA channels 30 m long, with 2 konnektorny connections, and confirmed their compliance to the developed requirements standartaiso/IEC. As a part of a test configuration of the channel the connectors TERA of Siemon company, a cable of category 8.2 and hybrid hardware cords of TERA – RJ-45. Testing confirmed compliance of parameters of the channel to all requirements, including the attenuation of radiation characterizing security from external electromagnetic interferences and showed a stock to the limits provided by the draft standard on class II.
After testing of the samples sufficient for representative selection, the Intertek laboratory confirmed compliance of the TERA system to requirements of class II, so, its suitability for support of applications 25GBASE-T and 40GBASE-T according to the IEEE standard 802.3 bq. The most modern metering equipment and emergency devices was applied to conducting testing in laboratory. The tested components conform to requirements of category 8.2, are made at the highest level and provide free signal transmission in frequency range to 2000 MHz. Completely screened TERA cable systems of category 7A/class FA which the Siemon company offers many years all this time are the most productive solution in the world on the basis of the twisted pair cable. We did not doubt that thanks to excellent characteristics and performance our TERA systems without effort will pass compliance test to requirements of category 8.2, and to maximum permissible values still there was very large supply. Lee Funnell, technical EMEA region manager of Siemon company |
Use in the connectors TERA of quadrupole arrangement of pairs, their isolation from each other the screen, gives a reason to vendor to draw a conclusion on support of class II of future applications 25GBASE-T and 40GBASE-T by channels in solutions of Siemon. It is relevant for data processing centers and the switch server applications.
TERA
TERA exceeds requirements of the ISO/IEC standard of category 7A/class FA and is the most productive and safest solution on the basis of the twisted pair cable from all presented at the market.
A system supports data transmission at speeds over 10 Gbps and conforms to strict requirements on [1] security system [1].
TERA provides possibilities of sharing of one cable for several less high-speed applications at the same time that allows to belong as a result more carefully to the environment and it is essential to save on total quantity of cable segments. Using one slot of TERA for exacting applications (10 Gbps and above), and the second slot for joint implementation of several less exacting applications, users can get at the same time advantages of the highest speed in the industry and the greatest price efficiency among copper cable systems.

The TERA connector — I will corrode the only не-RJ, approved for application in the systems of category 7A/class FA, at the same time he fits into external dimensions of normal RJ45 interface, and connection to the equipment with slots of RJ45 is executed using TERA-RJ cords.
TERA properties
- Bandwidth of 1.2 GHz on each pair that is twice wider, than specifications of category 7/class F is the most productive copper cable system in the market.
- TEMPEST for the state systems requiring high degree of protection is approved.
- Sharing of a cable. Individual shielding of pairs, the 4-pair slot and 1-, 2-and 4-pair cords allow to implement several applications of different type on one cable.
- System performance allows to support applications which are developed just now.
- The TERA system is suitable for data processing centers, financial institutions, health facilities using the systems of a tomography and scanning with large volumes of information.
- The 20-year exclusive guarantee extends to the TERA systems installed by the certified assemblers of Siemon.
