Resilient Cloud Storage (RCS) is a horizontally scalable, failsafe, selfrepair storage system (SS) which combines functions of object, block and file storage. A core of a system is the technology used by the majority of commercial cloud platforms.
The Russian horizontally scalable DWH of Resilient Cloud Storage (POLIBAYT) is entered by the order of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation of 12/23/2016 No. 682 in the Unified register of domestic software and recommended for purchase to the Russian state structures and the enterprises.
The hardware and software system "Polibayt" allows to build the cloud storage with an amount up to hundreds petabyte and is suitable for storage of any traffic and metadata. It is the first Russian DWH with horizontally scalable architecture and support of all modern protocols, including S3 protocol.
S3 protocol allows to interact with data far off using standard requests and to have to them continuous access. Thanks to support of this protocol hosting providers will be able to construct own cloud of S3 in Russia that quite responds a general course of the country to import substitution.
Thanks to its horizontally scalable architecture a system with several modules of storage can be turned on Wednesday with several thousand modules of storage and also supports protocols, such as S3 and RBD that allows to solve more effectively a problem of storage and work with large volumes of data.
- DWH of Resilient Cloud Storage (POLIBAYT) combines solid state drives (SSD) for the applications requiring high performance and hard drives (HDD) of high capacity for effective storage of large volumes of information.
- DWH of Resilient Cloud Storage (POLIBAYT) does not contain controllers, traditional for the classical DWH, which is passing through themselves all traffic and being "a bottle neck" of performance. Instead DWH of Resilient Cloud Storage (POLIBAYT) is under construction of the unified data storage modules, each of which performs at the same time storage functions and interactions with consumers. The number of such modules can begin with three units and reach tens of thousands. At the expense of it on modules not only data, but also loading are distributed. It allows to increase system performance (with the simultaneous growth of amount) simple adding of modules.
- DWH of Resilient Cloud Storage (POLIBAYT) does not use RAID technologies, traditional for storage systems, for ensuring fault tolerance and redundancy.
- In Resilient Cloud Storage (POLIBAYT) by default information is stored in three remarks placed in different domains of fault tolerance. It allows to maintain failures of the whole domain of fault tolerance (it is usually resistant or the server premises) without performance penalty. In case of failure a system switches to an alternative remark of data thanks to what there is no need to keep all carriers under a stress load as it happens in the classical systems to RAID.
Scalability and performance
The solution Resilient Cloud Storage breaks traditional barriers of scalability of storage systems and provides possibilities of growth to hundreds and thousands petabyte. The parallel architecture and distribution of volumes allow to create a system with mass parallelism in which input-output operations are executed in distributed environment. As a result, increase in number of modules of storage will lead to linear performance improvement of a system. In Resilient Cloud Storage the controller is built in each disk module, the opportunity for work with enormous amounts of data without performance penalty of all system thereby is provided. With adding of new disk modules both the storage system capacity, and performance linearly grows.
Elasticity and fault tolerance
The solution Resilient Cloud Storage allows administrators to add, move and take disks, to reconfigure volumes without any idle times. The software reacts to any changes in infrastructure and repeatedly balances data in network without interruption of workflows.
Training courses in the AIS
ARSIENTEK (RCNTEC) company and the Academy of Information Systems training center opened in the fall of 2016 training courses for professionals of the IT industry on setup and system maintenance of data storage of "Polibayt" (the international name Resilient Cloud Storage)
Rates consist of two sections: RCS and RCS2. It is possible to register in training at the website of Academy of Information Systems.
RCS is focused on the IT professional who are responsible for configuring, deployment and management block, the file - the focused and/or unified storage systems of "Polibayt".
Within training basic elements of system deployment, integration with IT infrastructure, virtualization platforms are considered. Connectivities using the protocols S3, iSCSI, RBD, NFS, FC are shown. Also initial system configuration of storage, security and high operational readiness is considered. Special attention is paid to design of domains of fault tolerance for ensuring safety of data and maximum capacity of a system.
The rate of expert RCS2 level is focused on the IT professional who are responsible for operation and optimization of performance of storage systems and virtualization platforms.
In detail different tools for collecting and the analysis of statistics of system performance using various options of workload, types of a configuration and types of disks are considered. Special attention is paid to issues of monitoring and diagnostics of a system status and regular/abnormal service. Lecture materials are followed by practical works. Upon termination of rates the certificate of RCS is issued.
