2015: Moving of these Russian users of "Bitriks24" to the Russian Federation

On September 3, 2015 the 1C-Bitrix company announced placement of personal data of all Russian users of Bitriks24 service in the Russian Federation. The statement was made two days later after in Russia became effective Law No. 242-FZ according to which storage and data processing of citizens of the country should not be performed abroad. It is possible to learn about the updated law in more detail here.

As it appears from the message 1C-Bitrix, by September 3, 2015 is complete moving of personal data of the Russian users of "Bitriks24" from servers of Amazon on a hosting of the Russian provider Cloud4Y. This company placed data with "Bitriks24" on 73 servers in two independent data centers.

As the CEO 1C-Bitrix Sergey Ryzhikov in comments on the Facebook page specified, data only of local users of "Bitriks24" moved to Russia. Foreign clients remained on servers of Amazon.

Data of the Russian users of "Bitriks24" are translated from servers of Amazon to Cloud4Y hosting

In 1C-Bitrix say that the choice of the contractor lasting several months took place by the following criteria: geographically distributed structure of data centers, possibility of complete data backup, round-the-clock support of availability of service, possibility of fast scaling of infrastructure and existence of additional ready services. Besides, from provider providing the cloud hosting used for flexible deployment and preserving of cost of operation of infrastructure was required.

1C-Bitrix selected nine Russian companies which in different degree corresponded to requirements of vendor. As a result gave preference to Cloud4Y.

It is noted that migration of personal data of users of "Bitriks24" to Russia was labor-intensive and resource-intensive, process lasted six months and took place in four stages: moving of "point of entry" for clients from Ireland to Russia, formation of infrastructure, transfer of continuous data and registration of new clients in Russia.

According to the head of rent solutions of 1C-Bitrix company Alexander Demidov supervising moving in Russia there are practically no providers of level and size of Amazon capable to be scaled under any loadings in the shortest possible time.

"Moving was planned in advance, tests were carried out, but in the course of transfer of data bulk load of servers of hosting provider was unbalanced therefore some of our clients nevertheless felt moving. But thanks to timely consultations of representatives of Cloud4Y, we quickly coped with the faced difficulties and completed process in time" — Demidov told.[1]
