TAdviser conducted a large research for Microsoft: 500 companies are polled

According to a research of analytical center TAdviser, 35% of business companies confirmed readiness to pass with Windows Server 2003 or 2003 R2 to more modern software within a year or in a year (support of these products ended in July, 2015).

The research of TAdviser was conducted among business companies of the most IT and capacious branches of the economy – finance and insurance, a telecom, retail, FMCG, industrial production, transport, power, etc., carried out in June – July, 2015, selection of 500 companies.

Most of respondents (87%) as an alternative select Windows Server 2012 R2. 28%, aiming to reduce costs, consider the possibility of transition to a cloud: 19% – in public, and 9% – in private or hybrid. At the same time the vast majority of SMB company (94% from noted a cloud as an alternative to outdated server products) is selected by public scenarios. 42% of the respondents who are going to use a cloud designated the interest in trying Microsoft Azure, 51% are ready to take advantage of proposals of partners within an initiative of Microsoft Cloud OS Network Russia.

"In the current conditions when not all customers are ready to invest in IT, it is necessary to estimate correctly, what is more profitable. Economy can turn back serious losses. Cloud services not only will reduce operating costs, but also will help to reduce risks and to increase efficiency of operation of business systems and work of IT service", – Dmitry Marchenko, the chief promotions officer of a cloud platform of Microsoft in Russia emphasized.

According to TAdviser, 88% of the companies from different branches of the economy at the moment use Windows Server as one of server operating systems. Among the set versions of Windows Server Windows Server 2008 R2 (61%) and Windows Server 2012 R2 (53%) have the greatest popularity at the moment. Versions of Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 R2 are used by a third of respondents, at the same time 75% of respondents confirm that they are informed on a date of completion of technical support of these products on July 14, 2015.

To the most serious risks connected with use of software after completion of support, respondents refer attacks on infrastructure – 31% appropriated to this factor the maximum point. On the second and third places – mismatch to requirements of state regulation and value addition of service of systems. These factors got the maximum point in 27% and 19% cases respectively.

"Server products of Microsoft of later versions, in particular Windows Server 2012 R2, not only answer modern criteria of corporate security and have necessary certification, but also allow to increase efficiency of use of resources and also to reach the new level of reservation of data and speed of maintenance of systems, critical for business, – Marchenko adds. – To simplify transition to more modern versions of software in own infrastructure, it is possible to use free MAP3 tool kit. Thanks to new means of virtualization in most cases transfer of systems can be performed without change".
