Product
The name of the base system (platform): Raidix DWH
Developers: Raidix
Date of the premiere of the system: 2015/09/25
Technology: DWH

Interstellar is a software platform for creation of high-performance clusters of storage.

On September 25, 2015 the Raidix company announced development, joint with Intel, - the Interstellar platform.

Interstellar consists of the modular Raidix HPC platform, own technology of a clustering of Raidix of the class cluster-in-the-box and the software of Intel Enterprise Edition for Lustre. The platform - the boxed solution for creation and management of clusters of storage of high performance.

Sergey Platonov, the development director of products and services in Raidix, said: "Raidix Interstellar will be scaled to the 512th petabyte, to reach performance of 2 terabytes per second, having the highest indicators of capacity and speed of input-output operations. Raidix Interstellar is the platform of high performance, it gives the chance to clients to receive practically any IOPS necessary for the most exacting applications. Raidix is literally stuffed with innovations: it uses own patented algorithms and methods of shortchanging of RAID which reach performance of 37 gigabytes per second for RAID 6 and 25 of gigabytes per second for RAID 7.3 on each core of the processor. The hybrid platform of storage Raidix Interstellar can contain several hundred hard drives and solid state drives (SSD) in each node that allows to receive the large volume of RAM caching and huge volume of SSD of caching".

The software is established on standard server component parts (COTS). At the correct selection of the equipment, the rack of storage 42U will provide performance till 70-80 GB / page.

Creators characterize Interstellar as a reliable and failsafe system, at high access rate to data and ample opportunities for ensuring integrity of data, complex condition monitoring of a cluster of storage.

Raidix HPC creates completely failover cluster (at setup of the two-controller mode) and places RAIDs on nodes asymmetrically. Each array is available from any of nodes.

Raidix uses own patented algorithms of calculation of RAID. The supported RAID levels include both classical RAID 6, and own RAID 7.3 and RAID N+M. The main characteristic of the last - a possibility of user preference of number of checksums: values from the 2nd to the 64th are available.

Any of the RAID levels provides integrity of data and guarantees steady high performance in the failure mode - a system does not experience any performance penalties. Developed by RAID company has three additional functions:

  • "Detection of the concealed damages of data and their correction" (Silent Data Corruption),
  • "Partial reconstruction of data",
  • "Anticipatory reconstruction of data".
