As the Mininformsvyaz of RO implements "GIS of the Rostov region"

On October 27, 2015 the Ministry of information technologies and communications announced end of the first development stage of a geographic information system (GIS) of the Rostov region.

Project Progress

At the heart of GIS regularly updated electronic vector card. The card is created on the basis of materials land, space and spherical panoramic 3D - video filming of the area and objects. It displays borders of municipal entities and localities, a road network, a relief and hydrography of the area, localities of the Rostov region, with a possibility of viewing to the level of streets and certain buildings.

By 2018 a system will provide to state bodies, the organizations and citizens up-to-date comprehensive information about natural resources of the region, public institutions, sports constructions, apartment houses, objects of the industry, power, agriculture, cultural heritage and tourism of Don region. Data on investment projects and platforms of the Rostov region will be a part a geographic information system.

- The regional geographic information system is intended for solving of tasks of the public and municipal administration, - Herman Lopatkin, the minister of information technologies and communications of the Don region noted. – And use of GIS will help residents of the area with the solution of a number of social questions.
