Mail.ru implements in the MS Office mail, but the editor continues to develop

In November, 2015 Mail.ru Group reported that it updated technology base of the online editor of documents in the mail and Cloud of Mail.ru service using Microsoft Office Online. Its tools provide to users an opportunity to edit tables (in the .xls and .xlsx formats) and the presentations (.ppt, .pptx) directly in the interface of the browser, without downloading them.

Editing function of tables and the presentation in mail and a cloud service of Mail.ru was already available and earlier: it was provided by the Office Web Apps and Office Web Viewer tools which became afterwards a part of the Microsoft Office Online service having more enhanced capabilities.Microsoft says that upon completion of the project of transition to a new solution the speed of online editing in the web browser will significantly increase, the possibility of reviewing of documents will also appear. Besides, the interface of the editor will be updated, and it will be possible to share content much easier and quicker, speak in the company.

Editing presentation in Cloud of Mail.ru service

For editing documents in the .doc and .docx formats in a mail service and Cloud of Mail.ru own development of Mail.Ru is used. This function became available in Cloud of Mail.ru in June, 2014. In September, 2014 it became available also in a mail service. In the same month to users of both services in the mode of beta testing added a feature to work online with tables and the presentations.

Mail.ru Group told TAdviser that their company continues to develop own internal development of technology of online editing files of the doc formats. and docx. The documents which are initially created in this editor remain in the format compatible to Microsoft Office applications,OpenOffice and others.

Earlier Mail.ru Group reported that in its plans - to implement support of other office formats, such as tables and presentations in own online editor and also to expand the number of the supported functions for .doc and .docx.
