Purchase of routers for $129 million

On November 30, 2015 it became known of plans of Rostelecom for acquisition of the equipment for connection to the Internet for the amount of $129 million. It is not the first purchase of the operator in the fall.

Rostelecom announced competition on delivery of FTTB routers (fiber to the building is the technology of access assuming an eyeliner to the house of optical fiber and distribution of the Internet to apartments already on copper cables) and the GPON routers (gigabit passive optical networks — the standard means laying of the optical cable to each apartment), Vedomosti with reference to materials for an auction writes.

Rostelecom announced the next equipment procurement for connection to the Internet

The company is ready to pay for each FTTB router to $64.15-72.25 depending on characteristics, in a case with GPON the maximum price label for one product is limited to $77.79. Rostelecom can spend nearly $84 million for acquisition of 1.23 million FTTB routers and $45.3 million for 580 thousand GPON devices, the newspaper notes.

In September, 2015 the state operator announced tenders for the procurement of 2.22 million FTTB modems and 1.54 million GPON routers. According to the representative of Rostelecom Valery Kostarev, the most part of the purchased equipment is intended for new connections.

One of applicants for the new order Rostelecom is ZTE. The senior vice president of this company Tigran Pogosyan reminded the edition that ZTE already won tenders on delivery of ADSL-and the FTTB equipment to the operator and helped it to save on devices about 20-40%[1].
