DAS RFM (distributed antenna system radio frequency module) is the broadband interface LTE adapter of low power.
On November 20, 2015 the Alcatel-Lucent company submitted the radio interface for the distributed antenna systems (distributed antenna system, DAS) which will help to increase signal quality and to cut down to 90% operating expenses, lease and energy consumption at connection of subscribers by mobile operators in such public places as shopping centers, hotels and office complexes.
DAS RFM (2015)
The module DAS RFM eliminates need for installation of the large-size radio equipment for public places. Working as a part of a product portfolio of a radio access of LTE (Alcatel-Lucent LTE radio access portfolio), the module DAS RFM is connected to a digital block of basic range of Alcatel-Lucent of 9926 digital baseband unit and interacts directly with analog DAS on a radio channel with a power consumption and heat release about 1/8 from mean value of the portable transceiver that simplifies requirements to placement and optimizes costs.
Including DAS RFM in a network architecture of the distributed radio access of Alcatel-Lucent, operators can use scalable technology. Block 9926 BBU, being connected to the distributed radio modules, at peak splashes in traffic can increase capacity where it is necessary, redistributing it on other radio modules in the conditions of not loaded operation.
Basic facts
- Issuing a simple radio signal, Alcatel-Lucent of DAS RFM maintains openness of the DAS systems, allowing several operators to use one DAS system and to receive the corresponding benefits.
- The compact, low-power module of Alcatel-Lucent of DAS RFM (1/2 RU) reduces requirements to a working space, power and cooling at connection to DAS. It is intended for operation in racks for an outdoor and internal installation. In a standard 19-inch cabinet for internal installation the equipment for 40 radio sectors and the corresponding module of processing of basic range is placed.
- Alcatel-Lucent of DAS RFM is delivered in two broadband hardware options: for low-frequency and high-frequency radio modules. Each radio module covers from 6 to 10 ranges. The RF module of Alcatel-Lucent of DAS RFM implemented on the basis of the Alcatel-Lucent platform uses the general program and the hardware and can be easily adapted to frequency requirements of the specific markets using installation of plug-in cards.
- The rebuilt parameters allow to improve coordination of power in the ascending and downside channels on the portable DAS block for quality improvement of a radio communication. The first working tests showed improvement of an indicator signal/noise in the uplink channel on 10 dB that is equivalent to expansion of a coverage of cell or fall forward of data transmission, and allows one radio unit to service more subscribers.
- Payments of filtering will be available at the end of December, 2015 to separate frequency ranges.
According to the statement of the management of the company, the provided product is developed on the leading radio-frequency platform which operators use for the macro networks, and provides functionality of macrocellular nodes. The product can be used with analog DAS of any suppliers.
The company refers to a research in Bell Labs where drew a conclusion: when using the module DAS RFM, to these reducing the nomenclature of the equipment and reducing energy consumption, in comparison with traditional transceivers, operators can save the costs:
- up to 30% concerning the required equipment of wireless communication and DAS;
- up to 81% concerning the power and cooling;
- up to 91% concerning installation;
- up to 78% concerning energy consumption;
- up to 91% concerning a working space.
