Project Progress

The joint project "Maxims" Sheremetyevo is also aimed at creation of a wireless network Wi-Fi.

According to plans of the company, the network will be access for clients in public zones of C, D, E, F terminals; zones of an arrival, departure, transit and registration.

Sheremetyevo Airport (2013)

For November 23, 2015 the former network is switched to trunk channel "Maxima Telecom" with capacity of 5 Gbps. Before new year (2016) it is going to replace the equipment to provide 95% a covering of public zones.

The implemented network received the name AURA. In its structure two services:

  • Internet access
  • information entertainment portal.

The second service is a certain hybrid: a part of functionality is connected directly with the airport, and a part – access to entertaining and news information. It is supposed that using AURA attendees will be able to be registered, obtain information on runs, on internal services of the airport, etc.

Before completion of commissioning by AURA network it is possible to use free of charge. On completion of implementation only the first 15 minutes will be free. Then it will be required to make a choice of one of commercial tariff plans (for November 23, 2015 there is no information on them) and to pay required number of minutes from the account of the mobile phone or the bank card.

Igor Khokhlov, the deputy CEO for IT of "The international airport Sheremetyevo", said:

"Improvement of services of network of wireless Internet access in terminals of the airport will allow to increase significantly quality and access rate, to expand a range of services, including registration of passengers, informing on the status of runs, on available services and their location. It is sure that service will be highly appreciated by passengers and clients, and the project will strengthen positions of Sheremetyevo as most hi-tech and convenient airport of the Moscow air hub".

Oleg Kopitsyn, the deputy CEO of Maxima Telecom company, noted:

"Together with partners from Sheremetyevo Airport we set the new quality standard of Internet access at the airport providing one of the highest access rates in Europe and providing the services which are most demanded by passengers which number will constantly grow".
