On December 10, 2015 Corus Consulting Group announced transfer of a mail service of the Russian representative office of Ecco to a cloud environment of Microsoft Office 365[1].
Project Tasks
In Russia the company used a mail system on the Microsoft Exchange 2007 platform. Because the hardware platform became already outdated and it was required to increase the number of users, and the functionality of a system was limited to the version of a product, had to provide to the retailer the modern solution on management of corporate mail.
Having considered two options — upgrade of the operating server and continuation of support of the traditional mail solution or a cloud solution on a subscription, the choice of company management stopped on Microsoft Office 365.
"Ekko-Ros" attracted possibilities of solution SaaS of Microsoft:
- high scalability,
- availability to users from any place in the world and any device,
- compatibility with other information systems,
- security.
The partner in implementation selected Corus Consulting Group.
Project Progress
During the project the cloud mail service was integrated with the local Active Directory system that allowed to implement management of all accounts in Microsoft Office 365 of the Active Directory directory.
Project Results
Transition to a cloud solution of Outlook 365 allowed us to simplify system administration of a mail system. The solution gave the chance of flexible expansion or reduction of necessary number of users that it is important in the conditions of the current unstable markets. Implementation went rather "without serious consequences" without critical problems. Perhaps, the only difficult moment which we faced it is possible to note a question of compatibility with old versions of Microsoft Office. There is a wish to note good interaction with colleagues from Korus Konsaltinga and Microsoft which allowed to solve quickly emergency situations during the project of transition. As a result of use of a cloud service of Microsoft, more than 700 employees of "Ekko-Ros" had an opportunity to expand the capacity of mailboxes to 50 GB, at the same time the company had not to invest considerable means in the new software and the hardware for its support. Additional opportunities in the form of services of internal communication and the organization of joint work will allow "Ekko-Ros" to create a common information space for more effective work of all employees.
