December 15, 2015. Alfa-Bank announced implementation of the unified information system constructed based on Microsoft SharePoint which allowed to notify employees on updating of regulating documents of the company automatically.

In the uniform Knowledge base organized in an online encyclopedia format different corporate documents are collected:

  • information on products and services,
  • regulations
  • internal standards of bank.

It accelerated dissemination of information among personnel.

Meta-descriptions of documents help to control lifecycle of files and to notify employees on relevance of information. Outdated data automatically are removed from a system.

"Knowledge base" is available both with the PC at office, and from mobile devices. In the presence of access employees can work with it where they were. For December 15, 2015 Knowledge base is used by 9 thousand employees of the bank, monthly employees of retail and operational offices of bank browse 800 thousand pages.

Earlier employees of the bank had to use in work multipage regulations (sometimes over 100 pages) which upgraded versions extended insufficiently quickly. Besides, the lack of the uniform relevant database complicated search of the necessary information that, in turn, increased risks of emergence of operational errors which can cost very much to bank, including penalties of the Central Bank for non-compliance with statutory rules by employees. – To level these risks, we also created Knowledge base which provided personnel with convenient working tools, minimizing possibility of the failures caused by a human factor.

We selected the Microsoft SharePoint platform because it allowed to create a common information space for bek-and front offices, to add functionality necessary to bank and, at the same time, to remain within terms and the budget. The solution is recognized cost-efficient and will be widespread on all departments and branches in the next year. It will allow us to get rid of four hundred Lotus Notes databases which support requires serious investments.
