The Avaya company, solution provider in the field of business communications, announced in January, 2016 project implementation on installation of a video conferencing in the Center of New Medical Technologies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science Novosibirsk for broadcast of surgeries, record of training courses and benefits for doctors. Thanks to the solution of Avaya in the Center of New Medical Technologies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science it was succeeded to adjust infrastructure for exchange of experience with the leading medical specialists worldwide, masterings of the advanced surgical methods and the latest equipment online.
Multi-profile and the TsNMT specialized medical center – one of the leading medical centers of Novosibirsk and the leader in a number of the directions beyond the Urals. The center has 5 branches and network of the health centers representing full range of services not only for residents of Siberia, but also for residents of Russia and the neighboring countries. In the state more than 500 employees work.
At a certain stage Center was faced the need of expansion of opportunities of the internal communication system and video conferences for the international scientific cooperation with foreign colleagues. For the solution of this task on the basis of an open competition and in-depth examination of the market solutions of Avaya company, the most optimal based on the ratio of functionality and reliability to the ownership cost and also flexibility and simplicity in scalability and operation were selected.
Implementation was performed by the Novosibirsk company Novetekhnolodzhi LLC with assistance of specialists of Avaya. Together with the customer the new center of a video conferencing was created: MCU Avaya Scopia Elite 6105 and the AppServer 8.3 application server are implemented, principal components of the software are installed, and then setup is carried out. Also educational room of the center was equipped with the XT1200 video terminal.
As the hardware of the project the server of the multipoint Avaya Scopia Elite 6105 conference providing essentially new performance level for the most resource-intensive applications of conference communication was selected. The server supports two flows of video and data 1080p/60 frames per second with simultaneous support of the H.264 High Profile standard for economy of bandwidth and the H.264 SVC standard and also multithreaded communication in the telepresence mode with effect of immersion. For the solution of specific tasks of the Center the server supports imposing of information on the video image and also convenient functions of creation of a conference and accession to it using the advanced screen auto attendant. There are possibilities of shutdown of a voice of participants, changes of configuration of the video image, start and suspension of reproduction, the invitation of other participants.
As the equipment for video conferences the Radvision SCOPIA XT1200 system providing an optimal combination of the price and quality with assistance of double live video 1080p at update rate of 30 frames per second was installed. A system provides CD sound quality at the frequency range of 20 kHz and protection of loudspeakers against noise.
Project implementation took place in several stages. At first the server framework, then the hardware terminal to the educational room was set and configured. After that setup of the Avaya Scopia Desktop Client software clients followed. Implementation process of the project came to the end with integration into the existing video conferencing terminal.
As a result of video conferencing system implementation in the Center of New Medical Technologies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science it was succeeded to adjust smooth operation of the training center and broadcast of transactions in high resolution when holding master classes.
It is in the future going to expand a branch network and to increase the number of operating rooms that retrofitting of a system of conference communication will demand. The project is also going to be implemented on the equipment Avaya.
Implementation of a modern system of a video conferencing opens for TsNMT absolutely new opportunities for remote interaction with medical and scientific institutions worldwide. Now for carrying out specific transactions it is not obligatory to organize arrival of the unique specialist at all — he can watch transaction and make the recommendations from any place in the world, in real time, having before eyes a realistic picture of the events in our operating room.
