On December 16, 2015 it became known of the project of creation of the educational platform in MIEM Higher School of Economics National Research University - EU-leasing unrolled the educational IBM Big Data platform[1].
Project Results
According to the president of EU-Leasing Alexander Schmid, the pilot configuration from three Intel servers for a private cloud of MIEM is created and tested in cloud DPC of the company.
Financial participants do not raskryvyt the party of the project, but specify - it is carried out within the preferential program for universities of IBM Academic Initiative for Cloud.
In 2013 EU-leasing opened own basic department of information and analytical systems at faculty of information technologies and ADP equipment of MIEM, professor Alexander Schmid directs it.
After transfer of laboratory works on subject of clouds and Big Data on the platform MIEM, access to them all students of it and other universities will get over time. According to Alexander Tikhonov, the director and the research supervisor of MIEM, the financial model of similar cooperation with other universities is not approved yet, but, quite perhaps, access to educational resources for them will remain free, and money should be paid only for passing of examinations and obtaining certificates.
Alexander Schmid told of components of the IBM Big Data platform, their four:
- IBM InfoSphere BigInsights (on the basis of distributed system of Apache Hadoop),
- IBM InfoSphere Streams for processing of stream data,
- IBM Pure Data (Netezza), hardware and software system
- Watson Explorer is cognitive technologies.
For December 16, 2015 in MIEM the first two are unrolled. Sergey Dmitriyev, the CEO of research laboratory IBM in Russia and the CIS countries, noted that at IBM there are similar high school programs for work with public cloud resources Watson and BlueMix.
