EMC Rack Hardware Director (RackHD)

Product
Developers: Dell EMC
Date of the premiere of the system: 2015/12/21
Technology: ITSM - Management systems for IT service,  DWH,  Data processing centers are technologies for DPC

RackHD is the platform-independent stack of technologies developed for the solution of industry problems of management of server and network resources in hyper-structures.

On December 21, 2015 EMC submitted the software of RackHD - as a management tool the equipment (M&O — management & orchestration) for automation of detection, the description, distribution and programming of a broad spectrum of the server hardware from different vendors.

Modern DPCs represent mix of multivendor storage systems and servers with constantly increasing variety of the commercial equipment which is used for service of hyper-scalable projects. The OS installation of the bottom level, updating of a firmware and BIOS for a huge number of devices is a labor-consuming task already today for engineers of DPC which should be solved in the manual mode. And with transition to hyper-scales it becomes harder and harder and expensive. The RackHD project is started for automation and simplification of these fundamental procedures for a broad spectrum of the equipment from DPC.

Representation of RackHD is An Inside Look at RackHD (2015)

Developers can use RackHD API library as one of components of larger management system or to create the user interface for control of the equipment, irrespective of type of the used equipment. The solution was developed to help the organizations to implement modern applications which use a large number of the typified servers and heterogeneous infrastructure.

RackHD supports a set of models of the servers of architecture of x86 used in DPC and is equipped with functions of detection and monitoring of routers.

The RackHD project will be available according to the license Apache License 2.0 and will be placed on GitHub.
