HPE LTO-7 Ultrium (WORM)

HPE LTO-7 Ultrium (WORM) is a cartridge of data for creation and storage of archives of information on a tape.

The drive HPE LTO-7 Ultrium allows reading/data writing with a speed of 2.5 Tbyte/h and storage up to 15 Tbyte of information on one cartridge. It is focused for use in large-scale, crucial IT infrastructures where the round-the-clock data availability is required.

Increase in quantity of tracks by 64% and density of bits by 25% allowed to increase the capacity of tape drives from 6.25 Tbyte (LTO-6) to 15 Tbyte (LTO-7): from 2176 tracks in LTO-6 up to 3584 tracks in cartridges of the 7th generation of HPE LTO-7 Ultrium (15 Tbyte).

• Ensuring reliable data recovery thanks to prevention of failures in operation of carriers and violations in the course of backup irrespective of loading or operating conditions.
• The intelligent mechanism of capture and function of mechanical blocking for prevention of hit of the leading roller in a compartment with a tape. Sensors provide the correct connection and prevent damage of a tape owing to failure in operation of the roller.
• The simplified tape path increases resistance to wear and prevents accumulation of fine particles that increases operability of the equipment in a standalone mode.
• The test procedure of products of HPE (loading unloading, check of effect of Shoeshine, resistance to falling and external influences) passes much more strict, than that is required by standards of the drives LTO Ultrium. It guarantees the highest reliability of data recovery.
• The HPE company guarantees safety of data on LTO Ultrium cartridges within 30 years.
• The data media Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) provide reliable data storage according to modern requirements.
• Enciphering in the drives HP LTO-4, LTO-5, LTO-6 and LTO-7 Ultrium provides more reliable data protection. The solution conforms to the standard of security of FIPS 140-2 (level 1).
• HPE LTO Ultrium are interchangeable RW and WORM carriers which allow to reduce time of backup and provide 256-bit enciphering of AES (IEEE1619.1); at the same time they do not require an extra space or IT resources.

Technologies of open standards provide compatibility of products of different generations and provides more wide choice. Versions of cartridges are available:

• with the put standard barcode (both views include tags of RFID, since LTO-4)
