Huawei and TDC Group upgrade a broadband network of the operator to 1 GB / with

Customers: TDC Group (Tele Danmark Communications)

Telecommunication and communication

Contractors: Huawei
Product: Huawei D3.1 D-CCAP

Project date: 2016/01  - 2016/09

In February, 2016 Huawei announced the beginning of partnership with TDC Group (Tele Danmark Communications), the multiservice operator in Denmark, for upgrade of coaxial network of the operator to increase its capacity to 1 GB / page. Process of upgrade will begin this summer and should come to the end by the end of 2017 that will make Denmark the first country where all cable network will be upgraded to the Giga COAX level.

The solution Huawei D3.1 D-CCAP allows to save a large number of analog components and optical cables that simplifies increase in network transmission capacity. Use of D-CCAP devices on optical nodes provides more flexible and reliable increase in capacity. Besides, the solutions D-CCAP and FTTH can be started on a single platform.

Huawei plays a significant role in creation of standards and development of D3.1 technology. Huawei D3.1 D-CCAP is the solution providing interaction of the entering and outgoing channels within the testing held by CableLabs. It promotes "digitization" of office equipment for reduction of number of devices and the place taken by them more than for 80%. The distributed architecture within this solution provides "digitization" of optical cables and transfers nodes of modulation of signals closer to users for increase in SNR and, respectively, more high-level modulation for the bigger number of users.

D3.1 architecture assumes existence of common network endpoints, optical nodes, amplifiers, passive splitters and the corresponding utilities for ensuring revolutionary speeds and connectivities. Speed of 1 GB / with allows to load entirely the movie in HD quality (14 GB) less than in 2 minutes.

Considering the annual 50 percent growth of broadband traffic, multiservice operators need to upgrade the coaxial networks to the level of 1 GB / with to provide specialized video services based on the internetwork protocol (IP) and successfully to compete with FTTH. D3.1 uses advanced technologies of orthogonal frequency multiplexing of OFDM and increases a possibility of data transmission by 50% in comparison with D3.0. Thanks to D3.1 one coaxial cable can provide the maximum capacity in 2 GB / with in outgoing channels and 10 GB / with in the entering canals. Multiservice operators can reuse the available coaxial lines for quick start focused on future D3.1 networks of the next generation – for the offer of gigabit services and the competition to FTTH.
