2021: Australia breaks contract with company for $66 billion

In September 2021, it became known that Australia plans to break a record defense contract with France for 90 billion Australian dollars ($66 billion) for the construction of submarines, for the sake of a project to build nuclear submarines for its Navy on American and British technologies, as part of a new defense agreement with the United States and Great Britain.

After that, France recalled ambassadors from the United States and Australia for consultations due to the creation of the AUKUS alliance and Canberra's termination of the submarine contract with Naval Group, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said.

Le Drian called the decision of the Australian authorities "unacceptable behavior in relations between allies and partners."

2017: Name change to Naval Group

The French group of companies DCNS announced on June 28, 2017 that her name has been changing to Naval Group since that day.[1]. According to Naval Group President Hervé Guillou, "the creation of a strong and loyal brand that would fit our vocation and our heritage, which has been forged in shipbuilding for 400 years, answers two main challenges. On the one hand, it will increase our presence at the international level, to further strengthen our position and to capture new markets in the face of increased competition. On the other hand, this will attract talent and rally our supporters, it is an important task to ensure that critical technologies in shipbuilding will be updated and in the long term strengthen the sovereignty of France and its partners.[2]
