2016: RPKB creates server OS
On February 19, 2016 Ramenskoye announced instrument-making design office (RPKB, is included into KRET concern of Rostec) development of server operating system based on aviation technologies. It is supposed that the new product will not depend on Linux and will become the most reliable platform in the civil sphere.
The CEO of RPKB Daniil Brenerman told about creation of RIA Novosti OS. According to him, innovation will use technologies of the real-time operating systems (RTOS) which were initially intended for military and civil aviation.
| We work on creation of highly reliable server operating system which would allow to parry program failures in functional programs in the technologies accepted in aviation OS. It will have a native code. By our estimates, a system will be more than twice more reliable than OS used today in the civil sphere — Brenerman reported. |
He noted that for aviation OSRV the quality and fault tolerance of the software elements are crucial factors as any failure in system operation leads to failure of all product.
| Aviation OSRV should be developed for confirmation of high fault tolerance according to strict requirements that is confirmed afterwards by the certificate issued by independent authorized organizations — Daniil Brenerman told. |
He emphasized that the RPKB operating system is under construction not on Linux "or its clones", and "from scratch" on the basis of the developments applied in creation of the aviation software.[1]
Daniil Brenerman also reported that on the basis of aviation OSRV also mobile OS which "will guarantee accomplishment of critical applications and protection of the processed information" in tablets and other devices is created.
