Gemalto will create electronic identification documents for citizens of Jordan

The Gemalto company at the beginning of 2016 is selected by the Ministry of information, communication and technologies of Jordan (EL MISTI) for implementation of the large-scale state program on implementation of electronic identification documents of citizens. Gemalto will deliver in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) the product ─ proximity electronic ID cards of Sealys from polycarbonate and also a full range of solutions of Coesys for submission of requests, personalisation and issue of cards. Along with electronic ID cards, Gemalto will deliver automatic systems of identification of fingerprints (AFIS) for strengthening of national security, gain of immigration control and also minimizing of a fraud risk on the following elections in August, 2016.

The feed system of requests will be unrolled in more than hundred departments of registration of civil control and passport offices, allowing police officers to save personal and biometric data of citizens, excepting duplication of data in the national register. The Gemalto systems will be also unrolled for personalisation and release of smart cards in 25 special centers. Data of each citizen of Jordan will be put with a laser engraving on the card and also will be saved in the built-in chip what to allow the authorities to identify the card holder's personality with an absolute accuracy.

Electronic documents combine the advanced digital and graphic approaches of protection against fraud and also offer the government of Jordan an opportunity to freely start new services for work with cards after their issue. As a result the government can use as much as possible initial investments when developing new electronic security systems at the state level and also applications which will improve service quality of people and will cut down administrative expenses.
