2019: Dell EMC DSS 8440
On May 21, 2019 provided to Dell Technologies two-socket serverdell EMC DSS 8440 in body 4U intended for the applications of machine learning and other resource-intensive workloads requiring the high level of performance of calculations.
The need for opportunities of machine learning caused by development of cloud applicaions which process huge amounts of data grows. The Dell EMC DSS 8440 server offers flexible balance of accelerators, since 4, 8 or 10 graphic processorovnvidia Tesla V100 and high-speed input-output with productive local storage to provide high high-speed performance for resource-intensive workloads, such as modeling, simulation modeling and predictive analytics in scientific and engineering environments.
Offering effective performance for popular frameworks, the DSS 8440 system is ideal for applications of machine learning, reducing time necessary for training of models and obtaining results of analytics. It allows the customer to scale easily acceleration and resources according to requirements of business. The open architecture of the DSS 8440 server based on the industry standard of PCIe allows to perform the planned customization of internal components, such as accelerators, options of storage and network interface cards.

Dell EMC DSSD D5 Rack-Scale Flash for SAS 9
On October 12, 2016 Dell EMC presented the ready-made solution for applications of analytics of SAS on the DSSD platform and the PowerEdge servers.
The product Dell EMC DSSD D5 Rack-Scale Flash uses the Dell EMC PowerEdge R730 servers on the platform of Intel Xeon processors to offer customers a fast and scalable analytical system based on SAS 9.
Linear scaling and increase in productivity will help customers to expand an IT environment, adding computing resources.
According to the statement of the company, for analytical solutions of SAS triple increase in number of at the same time working users and applications due to use of the leader of all flash of an array is reached at least.
Factory installation of special expansion cards for connection of DSSD in certain Dell PowerEdge servers is possible.
Clients can use solutions DSSD D5 separately to achieve the extreme performance of the data warehouse that will allow to take additional benefit from last investments into SAS, saving the operating infrastructure from input-output subsystem bottlenecks. The separate high-performance analytical cluster for projects will help to create the ready-made solution Dell EMC.
The analytical solution for all categories of users will make possible large-scale use of analytics by customers, will lower investment payback time for the tasks solved using SAS. The ready configuration of data warehouses and the Dell EMC servers reduces the level of risks, provides the unsurpassed performance, reliability and flexibility that helps to solve analytical problems on a large scale at a high speed.
Serial rack servers 2S/2U PowerEdge R730 – provide functional flexibility. The powerful processors and large volume of memory of servers connected to Dell EMC DSSD D5 help to get quick access to data that does possible decision making in real or almost real time.
Dell EMC, referring to the testing held by Principled Technologies company reported: DSSD D5 shows the minimum delays at data access and can satisfy the needs for capacity for hundreds of computing cores (the test was carried out on 352 cores). It allows customers to integrate the applications of SAS on a single platform, to start more analytical tasks for the same time frame and also to service more competitive users and applications. Having shown almost linear scaling with 8 Dell R730 servers working on the Intel Xeon processors E5-2699 v4 at start more than 800 analytical tasks at the same time, showed to Dell EMC DSSD D5 peak capacity in 22.8 GB / page. The solution showed a ratio CPU/real time higher than 1.0, even at 8 connected servers, having shown - D5 can provide requirements of CPU for input-output, guaranteeing complete use of computing resources.
DSSD D5 Rack-Scale
On February 29, 2016 EMC submitted DSSD D5 system – the offer from category "Rack-Scale" providing a considerable gain of performance and capacity, reduction of delays.
A system is focused on support of traditional scenarios and modern tasks which require decrease in delays to microseconds – the analyst in real time for Hadoop and Oracle.
DSSD D5 represents ultra-dense, high-performance, high-available general storage system on a solid-state memory for work of 48 clients with the minimum delays. D5 is connected to each node via PCIe Gen3 interface, using NVMe technology - it guarantees performance at the level of the discrete flash drives connected through PCI.
D5 represents the separate device which is not tied to the specific computer, having all advantages of the general storage. Users receive performance with average delay at the level of 100 microseconds, capacity of 100 GB / with and also IOPS at the level of 10 million.
D5 system was created from scratch, in it some of the most modern innovations in the field of software and the equipment are used. As told EMC, DSSD D5 goes beyond edges of traditional architecture of storage, providing to modern applications required extreme performance levels and scalabilities.
DSSD D5 allows to save space of DPC, to reduce costs due to use of the ultra-dense general a flash storage.
EMC DSSD D5 will be available to the order in March, 2016.
