2016: ABB refused Oracle Database for benefit of IBM DB2

On March 30, 2016 it became known that the electrotechnical concern ABB transferred the SAP information systems constructed on software with DBMS Oracle to a single platform IBM. As integrator in this project the company acted Epam.

It provided migration of the key IT systems of SAP ERP, BI, BO and EP unrolled in ABB with Oracle Database on IBM DB2. Specialists of Epam carried out to short terms at first test transfer, and then — the worker and also performed tuning and debugging of systems and provided provided support at the first stage of commercial operation.

ABB transferred the information systems constructed on a SAP software from Oracle DBMS on a single platform of IBM

As a result ABB was succeeded to provide uninterrupted accomplishment of business processes, to increase performance of systems and to reduce the volume of the disk space occupied by data in an external storage device subsystem reported in Epam.

According to the head of a support service of business applications Dmitry Furletov's ABB, the company transferred from one platform on another crucial applications therefore she looked for the partner having experience of successful accomplishment of similar projects and "capable to work very quickly and to minimize time of a stop of the productive systems for migration".

Together with colleagues from ABB we managed to achieve the main thing: information systems of the company are migrated on the strategic IBM DB2 platform in the shortest possible time, practically without the interruption of business processes seen for users — the head of project office Epam Alexey Ionov reported.
