MegaFon is selected by basic operator for MVNO of JSC GLONASS

On April 1, 2016 MegaFon signed the contract on rendering service in providing elements of a communication network for the state customer of JSC GLONASS.

Within the contract Megafon became operator as on traffic transmission of the emergency reaction (eCall), and the partner of JSC GLONASS in development and rendering commercial services.

The federal project of JSC GLONASS is constructed on the Full-MVNO model (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) where all elements of network belong to the virtual operator, but at the same time infrastructure of a communication network of the basic operator is also used for processing of different types of calls.

"This cooperation will allow JSC GLONASS to render services for our clients in the most remote and hardly accessible corners of Russia. Further we hope to develop jointly and other services based on the ERA-GLONASS system, - Vasily Lebedev, the director of business development and project activity of JSC GLONASS commented.

JSC GLONASS is an operator of federal state geographically distributed automated information system of the emergency reaction at accidents and other emergencies which allows to reduce death rate and injury rate on roads.
