2016: Purchase of 22 servers on Elbrusakh for 50 million rubles
On May 10, 2016 it became known of the largest purchase of a computer hardware on the Russian processors. Federal state unitary enterprise Scientific Research Institute Voskhod subordinated to the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications will take part in it.
The enterprise will buy 22 servers on domestic Elbrus chips, Vedomosti with reference to documentation posted on the website of state procurements writes. Tender for supply of equipment was won by institute of electronic managing machines of I.S. Brook (enters into structure of the United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation (UIMC) of Rostec), which offered the smallest price — 49.5 million rubles.
"Voskhod" will purchase four database servers, seven application servers, eight servers of network attached storages and three technology servers. All of them will work on the special Elbrus operating system based on Linux, and quad-core Elbrus-4.4 processors (are based on the Elbrus-4C chip).
At first Voskhod was going to buy more than 100 servers on Elbrus processors approximately for 400 million rubles. However documentation to tender was changed, but the purchased 22 servers all the same are the largest equipment procurement on Elbrusakh, the representative of a MIC Leonid Hozin noted.
According to him, Elbrus-4C is constructed on domestic architecture, "what allows to speak about its power of attorney". Hozin also added that the chip is made abroad, but "under our control".
In addition to servers on Elbrusakh, Voskhod will purchase switches, a server cabinet, the firewall and other associated equipment with a total cost of 7 million rubles. The enterprise will use all purchased equipment in the system of production, registration and control of foreign passports of new generation.[1]
